There was not a time
Until yesterday,
When he didn't want to eliminate me
And I to trample him;
Until yesternight,
There was not a second
When we didn't curse each other's existence
And, today,
We stand at the same crossroads
Waiting for the arrival of a common idol,
Praying, panting, perspiring --
He for the cause of his own design,
I for the loyalty of my own definition.
